Thank you to everyone who took the time to come the Girls Meeting on Monday, July 29.  There were some great discussions held and we look forward to continuing to improve the girls' programs.

As a re-cap of the discussions, here is where BHB currently stands.  However, as we have mentioned before, this is very fluid, and changes can occur.  With the recent announcement of the new hockey director, he may have some additional conversations and thoughts on these matters as well, but we will always make sure to relay any information that we have so everyone is on the same page.  If you ever have any questions on these matters, please feel free to reach out to us.

10U Girls:

At this time, we are declaring two (2) 10UB teams and are planning our season around this.  The discussion revolved around whether a 10UA team is possible.  This will continue to be something BHB considers and looks further into.

One of the main points brought up would be the amount of travel required for a 10UA team, as the other 10UA teams to play in the state would likely be on the east side and it would result in travel on almost every weekend.  The other questions that remain are 1) how many of the girls will want to play with the boys and 2) what does the goalie situation look like for this age group?

At this time, we ask that all players that are returning please get registered, so we have accurate numbers.  We will be sending an email off to the players registered on August 7 to gauge interest in the required travel for a 10UA team and we will also reach out to those registered for boys/Squirts to discuss the options as well.

12U Girls:

The 12U girls teams that have been declared are the 12UA and 12UB teams.  Again, BHB asks that all players that are returning get registered as soon as possible so we have accurate numbers to determine if two teams are possible.  This age group will continue to be evaluated as those registrations are received.

15U Girls

A big thanks to Tim Meyer for coming and speaking to the group last night, as his insight into high school teams is invaluable.

At this age group, BHB has declared a 15UA team and a 15UB team (playing in the 19U league).  The discussion at the meeting revolved around whether there are enough girls for two teams and what levels those two teams would play at.  There is concern about playing in the 19U league and also concern with the lack of a goalie at this age level.  Further discussions were held in regard to a 14U team playing in the 12UA league being a possibility.

BHB asks that all players that are returning please get registered, as we will need to get accurate numbers before any further decisions are made.  If your player is on the fence between high school and staying with BHB, please reach out to walk through some of the options.  We want to make sure all girls continue to play hockey, no matter what level they choose.

The Hockey Director will also weigh in on these matters and will have additional discussions to determine what is best as we move forward.

Thank you again for attending the meeting and we look forward to additional conversations.
